Pantree Owl

August 13th, 2010 § 1 Comment

On Tuesday night I made a night out of seeing four of my best friends play one of there last shows in Bloomington (at least for a while).  I have witnessed them develop as a group and as individual musicians. Their friendship offstage has greatly influenced their chemistry onstage, allowing them to create a musical experience that is elegant, wistful and captivating.

Although I am not actually in the band (with the exception of my occasional addition on triangle) I was saddened at the thought of them parting ways as musicians. I was saved from a broken heart when I heard the news of them continuing to develop their gift and keep the band together. There are only wonderful things to come from these four kindred spirits, and I encourage anyone and everyone to take a listen.

Pantree Owl was formed by four friends at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Creating their own brand of experimental classical-influenced electroacoustic music. Pantree Owl finds their musical influence from classical minimalists (Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Arvo Part), exceptional ensembles (Kronos Quartet, Alarm Will Sound) and modern electronic artists (Aphex Twin, Cocorosie, Alva Noto, The Books, Bjork). They recently released their debut EP.
