As many of you know, I am very involved with Middle Way House, a domestic violence shelter in Bloomington, Indiana. With everything that this wonderful organization has done for me and thousands of survivors, it pains me to see it struggle through these poor economic times.
WE ARE IN LUCK!!!! All of YOU can help today (and everyday) by voting for Middle Way House in the “Pepsi Refresh” challenge. Last I checked Middle Way House was 24th in number of votes for the $250k grant, but we need to be 1 or 2 in order to get the money.
Here’s how you vote:
Step 1: Register–go to www.refresheverything.com, click on “sign in” (lower
left corner) and follow the steps to register. (You only need to do this
the first time you vote!)
Step 2: Visit the Middle Way page by typing in “middle way house” in the
search box in the upper right corner of the page. Our project begins with
“Put a roof over the heads…”
Step 3: Vote! Scroll to the bottom and click on “vote for this idea”, and
you’re all done.
Once you’re registered it’s even easier, especially if you bookmark. Simply

Were you doubting I would ever blog again? Truth be told I was starting to doubt it myself, things have been wonderfully busy!
As we come closer and closer to the MISS AMERICA PAGEANT TELECAST LIVE FROM PLANET HOLLYWOOD, JANUARY 15TH ON ABC, all of the planning and preparation is starting to fall into place. Gowns have been selected, packing lists have been made and the final round of mock interviews have been set, all that’s left is one grand send-off!
Since I’m partial to IU what better way to celebrate than in the Indiana Memorial Union’s Federal Room on the beautiful IU Bloomington campus. So stop in see my wardrobe for Miss America, mingle and enjoy some live music and refreshments.
Pantree Owl

On Tuesday night I made a night out of seeing four of my best friends play one of there last shows in Bloomington (at least for a while). I have witnessed them develop as a group and as individual musicians. Their friendship offstage has greatly influenced their chemistry onstage, allowing them to create a musical experience that is elegant, wistful and captivating.
Although I am not actually in the band (with the exception of my occasional addition on triangle) I was saddened at the thought of them parting ways as musicians. I was saved from a broken heart when I heard the news of them continuing to develop their gift and keep the band together. There are only wonderful things to come from these four kindred spirits, and I encourage anyone and everyone to take a listen.
Pantree Owl was formed by four friends at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Creating their own brand of experimental classical-influenced electroacoustic music. Pantree Owl finds their musical influence from classical minimalists (Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Arvo Part), exceptional ensembles (Kronos Quartet, Alarm Will Sound) and modern electronic artists (Aphex Twin, Cocorosie, Alva Noto, The Books, Bjork). They recently released their debut EP.
R.Lynda “The Best Elements of Couture”

Two weeks ago I was invited to the launch of R. Lynda’a Spring/Summer 2011 collection at the Indiana State Museum. I had never been to a fashion show before, and was thrilled to attend. I was joined by the lovely Miss Indiana 2009, Nicole Pollard and Miss Indiana Co-Director, Frank Ricketts who were both equally excited to be invited to the event.
The collection is wonderful, R. Lynda’s style is definitely unique, feminine and wearable. Who knows perhaps you’ll be seeing me in an R. Lynda design at Miss America.
